The Founding of WAPA
The Academy was founded by Samuel and Tanika Walton, owners of Body and Soul Dance Center. They have combined their love and commitment to the performing arts through dance and music education. Samuel, composer/producer/musician; Tanika, dance instructor/choreographer/performer have professionally performed worldwide while instructing and exhibiting their passion for the arts. It is the success of their unique programs that convinced the Waltons to evaluate the need for additional opportunities to serve the student population of this school district. The Board of Directors met with parents, community leaders, school administrators and other experts for counsel and advice. Based on the advice and comments from the public, and direction from the Board of Directors, this proposal for a charter school was developed. Over the years, the Waltons have inspired and impacted the lives of thousands
